Georgetown Red Poppy Festival - April 28 & 29, 2012 - Georgetown Event Photographer

I previously posted images from the Celebration Church's sponsored 3 on 3 basketball tourney at The Georgetown Red Poppy Festival. Here are some shots that Alli and I took of the other festival activities. this fest is all about wesome old cars and trucks (like Rusty Kraqer's 'The Rusty Sheriff'), craft booths, food court, live on stage music, 3 on 3 basketball...and a lot of cool people having a great time.

Put it on your calendar for next year!!

Celebration Serves...Day 2 of the 3 on 3 Basketball Tourney at the Georgetown Red Poppy Festival - Georgetown Event Photographer

It was another beautiful day in Gtown as day 2 of the 3 on 3 Basketball Tourney at the Georgetown Red Poppy Festival, hosted by Celebration Church and the Celebration Serves team,  brought out some of the best hoops that I have seen on black top in quite some time.  Even with the adrenaline kicking as the championship in each division drew near, sportsmanship prevailed and it was a great day of round ball!  Below is a slideshow of some of the action I shot today.

Congratulations to Derick and the entire Serve Team for putting together a great event!

Celebration Serves...3 on 3 Basketball Tourney at the Georgetown Red Poppy Festival - Georgetown Event Photographer

Saturday we went to the Red Poppy Festival in Georgetown, Texas. It is always a fun festival that draws a crowd of about 30k or so. It was a beautiful day to take it all in. Our home church, Celebration Church, hosted a 3 on 3 basketball tournament. Here are some images from that.

I had a great time watching the action and taking these photos. Basketball was my favorite sport growing up and I have no idea how many hours and miles I logged on some sort of basketball court. My pals and I hooped 'until the tires fell off'. I used to imagine God - the Father - leaning on a cloud and looking down at His boys playing. I shared this idea with my teammates and to the best of our abilities we tried to honor God while we were battling on the court. My mind went back to that thought today watching these guys play...and once again I think God was enjoying watching His boys at play on the square in Georgetown!

Easter On The Hill at Celebration Church With Tim Tebow - Austin Event Photographer

What a great Easter weekend! Tim Tebow was at my church - Celebration Church's Easter On The Hill with 18,000 in attendance...and 5 were my family!. Yes, all of my kids made it home for the weekend. The praise and worship service was fantastic as were the messages by Pastor Joe Champion and Tim Tebow. This sideshow is part of the images that I took for the set up, rehearsal and service. I hope that you can gain a sense of what the weekend was like if you were not able to attend, - or revisit the time there if you were able to be part of the 18k.  Praise God for an Easter that I will never forget!

Stevie Ray Vaughn at Auditorium Shores - Austin Photographer

Sometimes we like to just roam around Austin and Central Texas checking out the happenings and looking for cool stuff. Sort of like the "American Pickers", except our 'cool stuff' is more like photo op spots than rusty bike wheels and ancient toy cars.

You know how it is - you live in a place and you just do not see the kinds of things that people visiting drive in to see. One of those such things for me is the Stevie Ray Vaughn statue at Town Lake Auditorium Shores. Recently I remedied that.

I saw Stevie Ray walking not too far from this spot in Austin. This was in the early 80's just before he became nationally famous. As I watched him kinda stroll by, honestly I thought that he was even cooler than his music. Yeah, his statue is pretty cool too!!

Long live the music and spirit of Austin's Stevie Ray Vaughn...
